To start this project, trim the outer edges of the turkey pan away from the base using your scissors. This will make the pan easier to work with throughout the project. You should consider wearing gloves for this step and all others that involve cutting aluminum so as to avoid getting your hands cut.
Next, measure out the size of the windscreen/pot stand. If you have a tall pot and would like to be able to roll up your windscreen/pot stand and store it inside the pot, then you will make it as high as the pot. Measure the inside height of your pot. If you are using a shallow pot, then go with a height of 5″ or so.
Next, you will need to determine the circumference of the windscreen/pot stand. An easy way to do this is to measure the diameter of the pot, add two inches, then multiply by 3.14 (π). In this example, the pot measured 4.75″ in diameter, so the circumference of the windscreen/pot stand will be around 21.25″. It doesn’t need to be totally precise.
