This is a set of instructions for a combination windscreen and pot stand for a soda can alcohol stove. You will notice from following these instructions that this isn’t precision engineering at work. The design is meant to be very fast to build as well as lightweight, convenient, and practical to use. After gathering the materials, which are inexpensive, the entire build should take under 30 minutes.
Other than weight and time/cost to build, the advantages of this design are that it can be rapidly disassembled to form a very compact, portable cooking setup. If you use a tallish cook pot, the windscreen/pot stand will fit into your cook pot and therefore take up no additional pack space. I have used this design for long distance hiking and have found that it stands up quite well over time and is cheap to replace if it wears out. Happy building!
